The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) announced early last week that it is stopping food distribution in areas controlled by the Houthi rebels.
The World Food Program said the “pause” was due to limited funding and the lack of agreement with the Houthi rebel authorities for downscaling the program to match the agency’s resources. The reality is that the UN has not decreased food deliveries to the parts of Yemen held by the foreign controlled puppet government and its warehouses are reportedly full of food.
“This difficult decision, made in consultation with donors, comes after nearly a year of negotiations, during which no agreement was reached to reduce the number of people served from 9.5 million to 6.5 million,” the WFP statement said.
The cut-off in WFP food deliveries started as the Houthis ramped up attacks on Israel connected ships in the Red Sea, which was done in response to Israel's resumption of genocidal attacks on Palestinians.
WFP claims that food stocks in Houthi-controlled areas “are now almost completely depleted and resuming food assistance, even with an immediate agreement, could take up to as long as four months due to the disruption of the supply chain.”
The agency's sudden cessation of food deliveries without warning has put millions of people at risk of starvation. The agency claims that it will continue its nutrition and school feeding projects to lessen the impact.
The WFP is supposed to be politically neutral in its food supply programs, but it is obviously corrupted by Israel and has weaponized its food programs.
