Gaza contains an elaborate tunnel system, some of it built by Israel, but most constructed by Palestinians as bomb shelters, resistance workshops and warehousing of essential supplies. The tunnels are estimated to run for hundreds of kilometers, but not all are connected to each other and the entrance to many are well concealed.
The Jewish war criminals claim that they are flooding the tunnels to drive out Hamas forces, but doing so will be a major undertaking and some of the tunnels may be well defended. The flooding will also contaminate groundwater and undermine building foundations.
The flooding will prevent any type of rebuilding by Palestinians, who won't be able to afford the extensive dewatering, demolition, rebuilding and secure other sources of freshwater. Israel would certainly be able to afford the extensive work required to build Jewish cities in Gaza.
Israel's fascist government has made it clear that its intent is to drive Palestinians out of Gaza and out of Palestine and use the land for Jews. But that is proving to be more difficult than many of them might have imagined.
The UN General Assembly yesterday over-rode the U.S. veto of a previous UN Security Council resolution imposing an immediate ceasefire in Gaza. After the vote, Israel ramped up its mass slaughter of Palestinians and vows to continue regardless of what the rest of the world thinks.
