Pakistan Finally Agrees to Complete Gas Pipeline to Iran

Washington takes its orders from Tel Aviv and fascist Israel demanded that Iran not be able to sell gas to Pakistan. The U.S. demanded that Pakistan not complete its section of a pipeline to carry gas from Iran and Pakistan's corrupt military dictatorship complied, even though it meant strangling Pakistan's economy. Now, China calls the shots in Pakistan and China wants natural gas to support its various operations in Pakistan. 

Pakistan has just agreed to complete the 81-kilometer portion from the Pakistan-Iran border to China's Gwadar Port, an essential part of the greater China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), which is part of the Belt and Road Initiative. 

Pakistan was also motivated by the fact that it has been in breach of a contract with Iran and faced severe penalties under the contract. Iran had previously given Pakistan a 180-day deadline until September 2024 to start completion of the pipe-laying work. Tehran cautioned Islamabad that if it did not start work on the pipeline by the deadline, Iran will file a complaint with the Paris-based ICC International Court for Arbitration for non-execution of the project and the Islamic Republic will seek an $18 billion penalty.

After the pipeline is completed to Gwadar, it is hoped that it will connect to other portions of the pipeline already completed and yet to be built as part of the total 781-kilometer pipeline network which will be linked to Nawabshah City. 

Completion of the pipeline could help pull a large portion of Pakistan out of poverty.
