The topic for this year’s Asia-Pacific Food Security Forum is “Investing for the Future of Climate-Food-Nature”. It will be held from April 9-12, 2024, as a hybrid event with in-person attendees and speakers and an option to attend remotely.
As the announcement for the event notes, this is “ADB’s biennial event to ask, learn, and share emerging issues, innovations, and trends towards achieving long-term food security in the Asia and Pacific region.”
This year’s gathering will hear panels and presentations regarding increased investments on the intersection of challenges regarding the climate crisis, food shortages worldwide, and nature.
The forum will feature real-world experiences and case examples regarding “the future of food, access to financing, policies and private partnerships, food system transformation and climate resilience, country interventions towards long-term food security, cross-regional knowledge sharing, and technology applications.”
This year’s featured speakers will include:
Masatsugu Asakawa: President, Asian Development Bank
Albert Park: Chief Economist, Asian Development Bank
Cindy McCain: Executive Director, World Food Programme
Ashok Gulati: Professor, Indian Council for Research on International Economic Relations
Johann Swinnen: Director General, International Food Policy Research Institute
The event will be held both online and in-person at the Asian Development Bank headquarters in Manila, Philippines.
