After three days of negotiations in Cairo between Hamas and brokers from Qatar and Egypt, the latest ceasefire proposal from Israel was rejected yesterday by Hamas as unacceptable for the same reasons as the last several the insane Netanyahu gang has offered.
Cowardly Israel did not take part directly in the negotiations.
That rejection and Israel’s pouncing on it as an excuse could result in Israel launching – by as early as March 11 – the next stage of its slaughter of innocent Palestinians in southern Gaza.
The latest plan Israel put forth required Hamas to release some of those prisoners Hamas had captured during the October 7 attack which precipitated the current phase of the war against the Palestinian people and an additional release of certain ill and injured along with women and elderly prisoners Hamas is holding. Hamas would also be required to prepare a list of all prisoners it currently has in its custody. In return, Israel said it would allow increased humanitarian aid into the region. If all terms were met, Israel said it would agree to a ceasefire which the negotiators to the agreement say could last 40 days. But, Israel can only lie and violated previous ceasefires.
Yesterday, after a meeting at the White House between Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani and U.S. National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan, the White House issued several optimistic statements about this proposal.
"This first phase of a ceasefire would also enable a surge of humanitarian assistance to the people of Gaza and provide time and space to secure more enduring arrangements and sustained calm," the Team-Biden said in a statement issued yesterday.
Biden's handlers emphasized the urgent need for more food, water, medicine, and medical care coming into Gaza in public comments about the latest proposals.
“We must get more aid into Gaza,” muttered dementia-ridden Biden.
This new plan, Jake Sullivan said, is about “making sure it can get to the people who need it ... the situation as it stands is simply unacceptable."
Biden laid the blame of repercussions from not accepting Israel’s demands on Hamas in his comments to reporters about the proposal.
“It’s in the hands of Hamas right now. Israelis have been cooperating. There’s been a rational offer," Biden babbled as prompted by his Zionist handlers.
From Hamas’ perspective, this was far from a rational offer. It had already rejected the idea of listing out the names of all hostages held in Gaza and turning that over to Israel, noting that to do so would require it getting information from a scattering of Hamas sites within the Israeli-occupied zone and that it could not accomplish that while the war was ongoing. The release of hostages on a one-sided basis was also untenable.
The idea of increased humanitarian aid flowing into Gaza may also have appealed to Hamas, but at this stage few believe Israel will ever let it happen, at least not until the war is over. The Zionists' vicious murder of at least 112 civilians and injuring of over 750 more in northern Gaza last week, as they lined up for food and other aid escorted into the area by the Israel itself, is just one reason. A follow-up aid convoy several days later also resulted in Zionist forces shooting into the crowd waiting for food, something they did in their desperation to survive despite what happened when the previous aid trucks arrived.
Israel has also rejected any independent provision for aid as required by the International Court of Justice ruling against it in late January, and has taken steps to block the UNRWA agency responsible for Palestinian aid from ever setting foot in Gaza again, not to mention encouraging nations to cut all funding for the agency based on fraudulent claims that most of the UNRWA is acting directly or indirectly in support of Hamas.
Shortly before the official White House statement and the press conference from the White House, senior Hamas official Osama Hamdan said in a statement from Beirut that no deal with Israel would be acceptable unless it included a full withdrawal of all Israel military from Gaza, a complete shutdown of all war operations in Gaza, and an agreement to let all Palestinian residents of Gaza return to the homes they had been forced to flee because of the Israel invasion onto their land.
Israel’s counter to that, echoed in ongoing statements from war ciminal Netanyahu and his psychopathic War Cabinet members, is that it will never halt the war in Gaza until Hamas is “eliminated” and “total victory” is achieved.
Avi Hyman, an Israel spokesperson, said publicly yesterday that the Islamic movement and alliances must “come down from their delusional positions and come into our orbit", to reach any kind of reasonable agreement.
“Hamas understands military pressure and we are bringing it to them,” he added.
As of the end of the day yesterday, Hamas had submitted its own counter proposal to the Israeli proposal via the negotiators in Cairo. According to multiple reports, Israel says it is still waiting for Hamas to respond, even after Hamas already formally rejected its lukewarm offer to allow a 40 day suspension of the genocide and possibly increased humanitarian aid in return for Hamas releasing certain Israeli hostages and providing a hostage list.
Details of Hamas’ latest proposal were not announced publicly, but they are believed to include its requirement that Israel must withdraw its military and that this is in fact the end of the war rather than just a ceasefire.
“The security and safety of our people will be achieved only by a permanent ceasefire, the end of the aggression and the withdrawal from every inch of the Gaza Strip,” Hamas spokesperson Osama Hamdan said yesterday regarding their position.
Bassem Naim, another Hamas official, reiterated that his side had submitted a proposal which Israel is still refusing to comment on.
While his organization is still hoping for some response from Israel on its recommendations, he doubts that will happen.
"Netanyahu doesn't want to reach an agreement and the ball now is in the Americans' court,” he said.
From the campaign trail in the United States this week, Joe Biden stammered, “There’s got to be a ceasefire because if we get into circumstances where this continues to Ramadan, Israel and Jerusalem could be very, very dangerous.”
The U.S. continues to not only supply weapons and munitions to keep the genocide going but has troops on the ground to aid in the slaughter of innocent women and children. The White House is merely pretending to support a ceasefire to curry favor with voters who question the democrat's unconditional support of the genocide. The U.S. could easily put a stop to the genocide immediately if it wanted to.
March 11, the beginning of Ramadan, is when Netanyahu has promised the full ground assault on Rafah and what’s left of southern Gaza to begin. Besides signifying more mass murder in the region, this phase will also include the seizing of the southern border of Gaza including armed establishment of a military protection zone on both the Gaza and Egyptian sides, the forced kidnap and relocation of as many as one million Palestinian civilians from their homeland.
It has chosen this date as a religious insult and it is because that is when the resistance will be potentially weaker and distracted by religious observances.
By its own declaration, Israel will not bring and end to the war until it determines Hamas is gone. Because it has not really been targeting Hamas nearly as much as innocent women and children, and the resistance will never end, what this really means is that Israel will not stop till it has purged all Palestinians from their land and even then it will likely continue to steal land from its neighbors till it reaches its delusional Greater Israel, which encompasses all of Palestine, Jordan, Syria and parts of Iraq, Turkey, Egypt, Sudan and Saudi Arabia.
