Tanzania Strengthens Energy Efficiency with Energy Management and Audit Training to key Institutions

The intensive six-week program will equip 132 individuals from both public and private institutions with knowledge and skills necessary to drive energy efficiency across various sectors. Through the combination of classroom learning and practical experience, participants will gain expertise in conducting energy audits, implementing sustainable practises, and fostering a culture of energy management.

This training program is part of the broader Energy Efficiency Action Plan, coordinated by the Ministry of Energy (MoE) and implemented by United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) with funding from the European Union (EU) and the Embassy of Ireland.

Eng. Styden Rwebangila, Assistant Commissioner for Energy Development at the Ministry of Energy , echoed the importance of developing domestic capacity in energy auditing and management. "The 132 trained energy experts have the potential to revolutionise Tanzania’s energy sector,” he stated. “These newly trained professionals can support businesses in conducting efficient audits, leading to cost savings, increased productivity, reduced carbon emissions, and the creation of green jobs.  We encourage them to use their new skills for the betterment of the country’s development.,"

EU Delegation to Tanzania, represented by Mr. Lamine Diallo, the Head of Natural Resources reaffirmed their commitment to supporting the Energy Efficiency Action Plan. "The training program will empower Tanzanians with the skills needed to drive innovation and implement effective energy solutions,” he noted. “Ultimately, it will contribute to a more resilient, secure, and economically viable energy sector for Tanzania.”

Correspondingly, the Embassy of Ireland to Tanzania, represented by Ms. Mags Gaynor, Deputy Head of Mission, highlighted the significance of this training to advancing climate actions for sustainable and inclusive development, which is a priority for Ireland and Tanz
